Australian Women’s Ashes Team Set For The Ageas Bowl Training Camp

The Australian Women’s Team will be preparing for the forthcoming 2015 Ashes Series with England by using the The Ageas Bowl’s world-class facilities for a training camp.

This week, the Southern Stars will be staying at the new Hilton Southampton – The Ageas Bowl, whilst using the cricketing facilities at the home of Hampshire Cricket during their three-night stay.

The camp has been organised thanks to the excellent relationship between Cricket Australia and the The Ageas Bowl and in particular, the Elite International Cricket Academy (EICA).

As part of the Elite International Cricket Academy programme, Southern Stars pair Erin Osborne and Alex Blackwell have already been based at the The Ageas Bowl this summer.

During their training session on Wednesday (15 July), the Hampshire Ladies team, Hursley Park Ladies and the EICA will have the opportunity to bowl at the Southern Stars in the nets.

The Hampshire Academy will be the opposition for the Southern Stars in their only match of the training camp, a 50-over contest taking place on Thursday (16 July) on the The Ageas Bowl’s Nursery Ground.

The 2015 Women’s Ashes Series will get underway on July 21 with the first Royal London ODI at the County Ground in Taunton.

The players will then make the short journey across the Somerset-Gloucestershire border for the second Royal London ODI at the Bristol County Ground on July 23, before the third and final 50-over match is played at Worcestershire’s New Road on July 26.
