Petersfield CC Recognised at East Hampshire District Sports Awards

Roger Black MBE was guest of honour

Petersfield Cricket Club excelled in the annual East Hampshire District Council Sports Awards in front of guest of honour Roger Black MBE.

Their women and girls coach Chris Russell carried off the Participation Coach of the Year award at the Old Thorns Hotel, Liphook.

Daniel May also scooped the Young Volunteer prize after working with the clubs under 7s and under 9s.

Hugo Hammond claimed the Junior Disability Sportsperson of the Year after cementing a place as wicket-keeper / batsman in the England Physical Disability side, alongside older brother Alex, a nominee in the Senior Disability category.

Brad Taylor shared top Senior Sportsman with Arsenal and ex- Southampton defender Calum Chambers 

Hampshire Cricket’s Bobby Parks accepted the award from compere Fred Dinenage MBE with Taylor away at the Under 19's World Cup in Bangladesh.

Colin Greetham, who still turns out for Hampshire over 70s, was recognised along with the rest of his family in the new Portfolio Holder’s Award made by Cllr Julie Butler

And council leader Ferris Cowper announced a new Elite Sports Fund for 10-24 year olds who can apply for grants of £50-600.
