MATCH PREVIEW

Glamorgan v Hampshire

Royal London One-Day Cup

Sunday 31 July (11am start)

Swansea

Hampshire travel to Swansea tied on points with Glamorgan in the Royal London One Day Cup, with both sides in the hunt for two wins from their final two matches.

Hampshire Squad:

Liam Dawson is set to skipper a youthful Hampshire side, which includes promising academy graduates Jake Goodwin and Joe Weatherley, looking to secure back-to-back wins in the competition. Stand-in skipper Sean Ervine was injured whilst warming up for Friday’s T20.

Batsman Tom Alsop, 20, and seamer Brad Wheal, 19, have been included in the 15-man squad, having thrived since making the step up to regular first team action.

Alsop will look to enhance his already hugely impressive List-A record, having scored a century and two fifties in his first six matches. Wheal took 4-38 against Kent Spitfires at the The Ageas Bowl on Tuesday.

The Opposition:

Colin Ingram is Glamorgan’s main batting threat coming into this game, having scored a furious ton against Essex Eagles in the week, smashing six maximums and seven fours on his way to 107 off just 73 balls.

What the team say:

Giles White, Director of Cricket, said: “The last two matches are must-win games for us but we have momentum from a terrific victory over local rivals Sussex Sharks at Hove.

“Glamorgan find themselves in the same position as us, having won three of their six matches, and we know it’s going to be a challenging contest.

“Liam has been outstanding and the seamers are clear in their roles. Added to good runs from Jimmy and some excellent fielding, it feels like the team is in a good place to build on the recent one-day wins.”
