Hampshire Announce Squad For Surrey's Visit

The two bottom-placed clubs in Specsavers County Championship Division One are set to clash at the The Ageas Bowl on Sunday, as both Hampshire and Surrey look to secure a second win in the competition.

Hampshire Squad:

Will Smith will continue his duties as stand-in four-day skipper in James Vince’s absence, having led two dominant Hampshire performances away at Durham and Warwickshire, which both ended in well-earned draws.

Tino Best is included in Hampshire’s 13-man squad with Liam Dawson away with the England Lions.  

The Opposition:

England batsman Jason Roy is Surrey’s main threat, having scored over 3,000 runs in each of the three formats.

With older brother Tom selected for the England Lions, Sam Curran is a dangerman with the ball for Surrey, who are skippered by Gareth Batty.

Recent Form:

Hampshire posted 400-6 before declaring when the sides last met at the The Ageas Bowl, ending in a draw.

Hants have drawn their last three County Championship matches – at home to Somerset, and away at Durham and Warwickshire – whilst Surrey have defeated Nottinghamshire, lost to Warwickshire and drawn most recently with Yorkshire.

Aided by a six-point advantage in both bowling and batting, Surrey are five points ahead of Hampshire, who have a game in hand.
