Hampshire batsman Michael Carberry has re-joined the Perth Scorchers for the 2015/16 KFC Big Bash season.
Carberry amassed 456 runs in the 2015 NatWest T20 Blast, finishing as the club’s second-highest runs-scorer to help Hampshire reach a sixth consecutive T20 Finals Day.
The 35-year is set to line-up for the reigning BBL champions for a second season after totaling 266 runs at an impressive average of more than 44 in the Scorchers’ title-winning side last year.
It’s very exciting, obviously it was great to win it last year and it’s a great tournament to play in.
Michael Carberry
When you’ve won it back-to-back, there’s obviously a bit of pressure there now and we’re probably the team to beat in a lot of people’s eyes. I think we’re going to have to be on our A-Game again this year, but I think we should go in there looking to win it again.
There’s no reason why we can’t; we’ve got the belief, we’ve got the squad to do it, it’s just whether we can get off to a good start and win those crucial games and win those crucial moments.
Australian batsman Adam Voges will captain the side once again with former Elite International Cricket Academy duo Ashton Turner and Ashton Agar also part of the squad.
The Perth Scorchers begin their next BBL campaign with a home fixture against the Adelaide Strikers on 21 December.
