Jimmy Adams Supports Go Orange! At Rownhams St John's Primary School

The Hampshire batsman put 90 students through their paces with a series of cricket challenges

Hampshire Cricket in the Community, official charity of Hampshire Cricket and the The Ageas Bowl, paid a visit to Rownhams St John's Primary School to support their Go Orange for Muscular Dystrophy day.

Former captain Jimmy Adams put 90 students through their paces with a series of cricket challenges giving out tips on hitting sixes, catching and throwing down the stumps.

The event was organised following the club’s Christmas visit to Naomi House Hospice where Adams met two of the school’s students who are affected by muscular dystrophy. The Go Orange campaign is a nationwide activity organised by Muscular Dystrophy UK to increase awareness of the condition and raise funds for vital research.

This day is all about children becoming more aware of muscular dystrophy and being mindful of the differences we all have. It’s fantastic to have an elite cricketer visit the school and support a campaign that is so close to our hearts.

All of this coincides with the re-launch of the Hampshire Cricket School Offer which provides opportunities for Primary and Secondary Schools to access subsidised curriculum cricket coaching, after-school clubs and visits to the The Ageas Bowl for unique educational and T20 match day experiences. The programme, which is part-funded by national cricket charity Chance to Shine, is available to all schools in Hampshire.

Our Schools Offer is the centrepiece of our community work. We are passionate about inspiring young people to play cricket, learn and live well and this programme combines all aspects of our delivery from cricket coaching and competition to educational day trips and match day experiences, providing a seamless cricketing journey from the playground to the stadium.
