Hampshire Set For El Clasicoast Clash Against Local Rivals Sussex

Match preview of Hampshire's NatWest T20 Blast meeting with rivals Sussex Sharks at the The Ageas Bowl

The Ageas Bowl hosts El Clasicoast on Friday (17th June), as Hampshire aim to get back to winning ways in the NatWest T20 Blast in a highly anticipated South Coast derby against Sussex Sharks.

Hampshire Squad:

Boosted by the return of captain James Vince, Hampshire are hopeful that Michael Carberry, Adam Wheater and Shahid Afridi will feature against Sussex. Carberry missed trips to Kent and Surrey due to a hand injury.

Wicket-keeper batsman Lewis McManus’ inclusion in Hampshire’s 14-man squad comes after he scored 41 runs off 35 balls in the team’s away defeat to Surrey.

All-rounders Darren Sammy and Afridi are both set to appear against Sussex at the The Ageas Bowl – the last time the pair played together, they hit 65 runs off 34 balls between them.

The Opposition:

Ross Taylor is Sussex’s main threat with the bat, having registered three fifties in four NatWest T20 Blast matches in 2016, and he hit an unbeaten 93 against Gloucestershire to open his campaign.

England bowler Chris Jordan has taken five wickets in two T20 appearances this year, including the dismissals of Jason Roy, Dwayne Bravo and Daniel Bell-Drummond.

What The Team Say:

Sussex-Hampshire T20 matches are always good value, and we’ll treat it like a knockout game. I’m seriously looking forward to Friday and can’t wait to get involved.
