Gareth Andrew Joins Hampshire On Match By Match Basis

Full preview of Hampshire's Specsavers County Championship match against Lancashire at Emirates Old Trafford

Hampshire will be looking to extend their unbeaten start to the season with a first victory when they travel to Lancashire for their fourth Specsavers County Championship Division One match at Emirates Old Trafford.  

The visitors welcome former Worcestershire fast-bowler Gareth Andrew into the 13-man squad – the 32-year old has 231 wickets in 90 first-class appearances and joins the club on a match by match basis.

Hampshire Squad:
Sean Ervine is not included in the squad after failing to recover from the hand injury which kept him out of the draw against Middlesex whilst Chris Wood doesn’t make the trip to Lancashire after aggravating a knee problem whilst bowling at the The Ageas Bowl this week.   

Michael Carberry will be looking to repeat a fantastic century against Middlesex, having looked in good touch at the The Ageas Bowl. Jimmy Adams’ return to first team action was undoubtedly a success, hitting 70 in a fine second innings display.    

The Opposition:

England bowler Jimmy Anderson is named in the Lancashire squad whilst Neil Wagner also provides a significant threat with ball in hand. Wagner took 11 wickets on his Lancashire debut against Nottinghamshire.

Liam Livingston is looking dangerous with the bat, having scored an unbeaten century against in his last Specsavers County Championship innings.

Recent Form:

Hampshire have made an unbeaten start to the 2016, and will be looking for victory in their fourth match, having shown glimpses of real quality with the bat.

Michael Carberry was at the helm of an impressive first innings of batting for Hampshire when they took on Middlesex at the The Ageas Bowl, complimented by a fine 77 from Jimmy Adams on his return to the first team.

Lancashire have started the season brightly, with victory over Nottinghamshire in their opening match and securing a draw with Somerset in their second.

Lancashire finished in second place behind Surrey in the Specsavers County Championship Division Two standings last season, with seven victories and eight draws.
