Match Preview: Nottinghamshire Outlaws v Hampshire - Royal London One-Day Cup

Squad news ahead of Wednesday's 50-over match against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge

Hampshire travel to Trent Bridge to face Nottinghamshire Outlaws on Wednesday knowing that victory from the final Group B game will ensure qualification for the Royal London One-Day Cup quarter-final stage.

James Vince’s side suffered a narrow defeat against a rejuvenated Lancashire side on Monday, but with Adam Wheater hitting an excellent century and other batsman showing good form, the skipper will be hoping to pick up a crucial win to see Hampshire through to the next round.

Hampshire Squad:

Hampshire name an unchanged 14-man squad for Wednesday’s fixture against Nottinghamshire.

Danny Briggs, Joe Gatting and Gareth Berg are all included once again in addition to the final eleven that faced Lancashire at the The Ageas Bowl.

The Opposition:

Nottinghamshire have enjoyed a successful 2015 Royal London One-Day Cup campaign so far having already qualified for the competition’s quarter-final stage.

The hosts currently sit in first place in Group B but were defeated for the first time in this format in their thrilling 50-over fixture against Kent on Monday, despite captain James Taylor hitting an aggressive century.

The right-hander averages an impressive 69.4 with the bat in this year’s List A competition and is likely to be the key-man for the Outlaws, whilst the dangerous Dan Christian, who represented Hampshire in 2010, is also likely to feature for the home-side.

What The Team Say:

Hampshire wicket-keeper Adam Wheater: ‘We like to keep our fans on the edge of their seats! Ideally we’d like to have guaranteed qualification against Lancashire at home but we should take confidence going to Trent Bridge because we’re playing good cricket.

‘Now we have to win at Notts so hopefully we can get through that and continue in the competition – that’d be great.’

Hampshire Squad:

Michael Carberry, Jimmy Adams, Adam Wheater, James Vince (c), Liam Dawson, Sean Ervine, Will Smith, Joe Gatting, Gareth Berg, Chris Wood, Yasir Arafat, Danny Briggs, Mason Crane, Fidel Edwards.
