Match Preview: Nottinghamshire v Hampshire - LV= County Championship

Squad news ahead of Hampshire's final four-day fixture of 2015

Hampshire travel to Trent Bridge to face Nottinghamshire in their final LV= County Championship fixture of the season beginning on Tuesday.

After suffering a difficult defeat at the hands of Division One champions Yorkshire in their penultimate match of the season, James Vince’s side know that a victory at Trent Bridge, as well as helpful results elsewhere, will be essential if they are to have any chance of remaining in Division One.

Hampshire currently lie in eighth place in the top tier and are 16 points behind relegation rivals Sussex who travel to Headingley to face Yorkshire.

Hampshire Squad:

Hampshire have announced an unchanged 13-man squad for the LV= County Championship fixture.

Mason Crane and James Tomlinson are both included in addition to the previous final eleven.

The Opposition:

Nottinghamshire have enjoyed an impressive 2015 LV= County Championship campaign and currently sit in third place - with the potential for a second place finish - heading into this final fixture.

Despite finding themselves in eighth place and without a victory from their opening six games, Chris Read’s side have won six of their last nine four-day matches and are unbeaten in their last seven, seeing them climb the table dramatically in recent weeks.

England international duo James Taylor and Alex Hales are both rested for the contest and will not feature for the hosts however 2015 Ashes winner Stuart Broad is set to be available.

What The Team Say:

Hampshire opening batsman Jimmy Adams: ‘It would have been nice to get a positive result and something from the last game (against Yorkshire) but we’ve played well in the last month or so and given ourselves a decent chance heading into tomorrow’s game.

‘We’ve got to play good cricket and hope a few things go our way but we need to win the game to give ourselves the best chance possible. There’s still four days of cricket that could determine where we play our cricket next year and either way we know we’ve played some good cricket that we can take into next season.’
