The University of Portsmouth Cricket Club will be attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the “Longest Marathon Playing Indoor Cricket" this Friday (19th February).
The current record is 25hrs 59mins, held by a club side in South Africa and the team are not only looking to beat the record, but to set a significant new time of 36 hours.
The event will see back-to-back continuous games of indoor cricket between 2 squads of 8, with 6 playing at one time.
No player will be allowed outside of the sports hall throughout the duration of the attempt (apart from scheduled breaks - 5 mins every hour played)
The Guinness World Record attempt will be starting at 9am on Friday 19th February, to be completed on Saturday 20th February at 9pm.
The club will also be using this event to raise money and awareness for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. A target to raise £2,500 has been set through a combination of their online donation page and through charity buckets where people can donate when supporting the event on the day.
