Patrick Holly’s unbeaten 51 was not enough to take Hampshire’s Academy beyond Burridge’s 235-run total, finishing on 211-9 at the The Ageas Bowl’s Nursery Ground.

Burridge batsmen Joe Collings-Wells (66) and Geoff Dods (72) scored fatal half-tons before being dismissed by Tom South (1-17) and Josh McCoy (1-35) respectively.

Holly’s 51 was the highlight of a mixed innings for Hampshire, with Miles Kantolinna (30) and Ben Duggan (36) opening with a 56-run partnership, before a flurry of wickets for Burridge bowler Daniel Stancliffe (5-31).

Hampshire began well in the field, Matthew Drakeley catching captain William Steward from Tristan Alsop’s (1-19) delivery, then Harry Gadd running out Burridge opener Dan Hewitt.

The away side’s score of 56-2 was transformed into 131-2 by Collings-Well and Dods, who looked determined to accumulate a high total, before Weatherley caught the former from South’s ball.

Dods’ impressive 72 projected Burridge’s total to 215-7, before the tail-enders added valuable runs, Joseph Houlton (7) and Ryan Murray (2) unbeaten at the end of the innings.

Hampshire openers Kantolinna and Duggan hit a 56-run partnership, scoring nicely until Duggan was trapped at lbw by Stancliffe, who then took Hants skipper Joe Weatherley (0) for good measure, before Kantolinna was forced to retire.

Josh McCoy (35) looked in good touch, then Holly scored 51 from 57 balls to take Hants to 211, as Stancliffe ended the innings with a flurry of three wickets, handing Burridge a 24-run victory.
