A 13-player Hampshire squad will travel to The Kia Oval to take on Surrey in the Vitality County Championship
Basil Akram is a right-arm pace bowler and right-handed batsman.
After impressing for Hampshire’s Second XI throughout 2014, the 22-year old seamer was awarded a development contract with the club for the 2015 season.
Alongside his Second XI exploits, he has also featured for Loughborough MCCU in several first-class fixtures across 2014 and to begin the 2015 season.
Akram made his debut for the county in the Royal London One-Day Cup in August last year and possesses career best figures of 2-82 which he picked up against local rivals Sussex back in 2014.
Having also faced off against Hampshire in a pre-season fixture in April, Akram will be looking to fight for a place in the club’s First XI during the 2015 season.
