Gareth Andrew

All-Rounder

Gareth Andrew is a left-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler who first appeared for Hampshire in May 2016 against Lancashire at Old Trafford.

Having made his first-class debut at the Utilita Bowl for Somerset in 2003, Andrew estasblished himself as a County Championship all-rounder for Worcestershire in 2008.

Capable of adapting his game to across all formats, Andrew has taken 232 first-class wickets and claimed over 200 wickets in limited-overs cricket. In 2011, Andrew broke the 50-wicket barrier for the first time in his then eight year career, his testing middle-pace earning him 52 wickets.

32-year-old Andrew hit his maiden century in the 2012-13 winter playing in New Zealand for Canterbury, scoring an unbeaten 180 against Auckland at Eden Park.

Adding useful low-order scores at a furious rate has become Andrew's forte alongside his accurate bowling, and his unbeaten 70 off 41 balls against Gloucestershire in the Royal London One-Day Cup displayed his big-hitting ability. Andrew smashed four maximums and five boundaries to register his highest Hampshire score in June 2016.

Andrew has also impressed with the ball during his time with the club so far, taking regular wickets across both limited-overs formats.
