Jackson Bird

Bowler

Jackson Bird is a right-hand batsman and right-arm fast-medium bowler.

He was born in Sydney, Australia and has played multiple Tests for his home nation since making his international debut in 2012.

Having started his career playing youth cricket for New South Wales, Bird signed for Tasmania as part of the first-team squad for the 2011/12 season.

He quickly became known as an excellent wicket-to-wicket bowler after producing some fine performances during a phenomenal debut season. The seamer finished as the Sheffield Shield’s leading wicket-taker with a staggering 53 wickets at an average of 16.

Following his successful first campaign, Bird was rewarded with a call-up to the Australia A side. After then impressing again for Tasmania early in the 2012/13 season, the seamer was handed his full first-team cap for Australia, making his debut in the Boxing Day Test match vs Sri Lanka in the same year.

Bird, who has taken more than 130 first-class wickets and averages under 24 in test-matches will make his first appearance in England this year, as he joins Hampshire as an overseas player for the first three months of the 2015 season.
