Tom Barber

Bowler

Tom is a young left-arm seam bowler and right handed batsman, who was awarded a two-year scholarship contract with Hampshire for the 2014 & 2015 season.

He first came to prominence when, as a member of the Hampshire Academy he was selected in an England Under-19s squad to tour South Africa in 2012. There, his stand-out performance saw him take 2-55 in the third Youth ODI against the hosts.

He then received further recongition when, in 2013, he was part of a Hampshire trio who gained a call-up to England's Under 19’s squad for a tri-series against Bangladesh Under 19s and Pakistan Under 19s on home turf. Again, he bowled tidily and took a further couple of two-wicket hauls.

That Summer, he was given some opportunities in the Hampshire Second XI and finished the season with ten Second XI Championship wickets at 35.7.

At the season's conclusion, Barber was once again awarded for his efforts with International honours, being selected for an England Under 19 squad to tour the UAE and take part in the Under 19 World Cup in February 2014.

In August 2014, Barber took two wickets in two balls on his List A debut against a strong Yorkshire side.
