Andre Adams

Bowler

Andre Adams is a right-hand batsman and right-arm seam bowler.

He was born in Auckland, New Zealand and has represented New Zealand in all three formats, although is particularly well known for his ODI prowess at international level.

The 39-year-old made his international debut in 2001 in an ODI against Sri Lanka, and having impressed domestically for Auckland, also earned his test debut the following year.

A back injury meant the fixture was Adams’ only test appearance, but he continued to be successful in New Zealand’s limited overs side.

Adams has valuable experience of English conditions having moved to play county cricket for two seasons with Essex in 2004. After a single-season stint back in Auckland, the seamer signed for Nottinghamshire in 2008.

Several successful seasons followed, with Adams named player of the year in his first two consecutive seasons for the county. He took 68 wickets during the 2010 campaign and was a heavy contributor to Nottinghamshire’s 2010 championship winning side.

Adams took more than 300 wickets during his time at Trent Bridge at an average of 24, including 16 five-wicket-hauls, whilst also averaging more than 20 with the bat, including three centuries.

He has also enjoyed stints playing in the Big Bash and the Bangladesh Premier League in the English off-season

Adams has become renowned as a brilliantly consistent swing bowler and a key part of Nottinghamshire’s bowling unit for multiple seasons, before leaving the club last summer.

The swing-bowler has enjoyed success facing Hampshire in the past, having taken more than 25 wickets against the club, but thankfully for Hampshire he will now be looking to take wickets for them after signing for the Club for the first three months of the 2015 season.
