Lewis McManus

Lewis McManus is a right-hand batter and wicket-keeper.

He was born in Poole, Dorset is a highly-rated young wicket-keeper batter and a product of Hampshire's highly successful youth system.

McManus first started attracted attention as part of the Hampshire’s Under 17 ECB 50-Over Cup winning side in 2011 and number of impressive performances for the Hampshire Academy followed in 2012 and 2013, resulting in an England U19s call-up.

As well as his youth team exploits, he finished the summer having scored 216 runs at an average of 36 in the Second XI Championship and was once subsequently selected for England U19s World Cup campaign in February 2014.

McManus soon made his First XI debut the following summer, and he impressed in two appearances.  He quickly became a First XI regular in 2016, with a maiden century in a high-scoring County Championship match against Surrey – as well as three further half-centuries – further demonstrating his potential.

Injury affected his opportunities in 2017 and 2018, although he was still able to play integral part in Hampshire’s 50-over triumph as the Club secured a first white-ball trophy in six years.

McManus continued to showcase his ability with his glovework and powerful hitting in the lower-order with further opportunities in 2019, making valuable contributions, particularly in the Vitality Blast. Although the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in a truncated 2020 domestic season, McManus featured in all but two fixtures during the summer.

2021 was another positive step for another academy graduate Lewis McManus. The 27 year-old was a mainstay in all three formats for Hampshire in 2021, contributing almost 700 runs, 43 catches and 7 stumpings across all formats. A stunning career best 60 from 36 balls against Somerset in the T20 Blast at the Utilita Bowl is evidence of his destructive capabilites in the short form of the game.
