2012 Second XI Fixtures Released
Dimi Mascarenhas marked his 2011 return from injury with three Second XI wickets against Glamorgan
Championship, Trophy, Twenty20 and Friendly Fixtures
Hampshire’s Second XI Fixtures have been confirmed for the 2012 season, including all Championship (SEC), Trophy (SET), Twenty20 and Friendly matches.
The season kicks off with Friendlies against Southampton Solent University, Dorset and Middlesex before Trophy and Championship matches against Essex at the Rose Bowl kick off the competitive campaigns.
Once again, Hampshire will compete in both the SEC and SET South Divisions alongside Essex, Glamorgan, Gloucestershire, Kent, Marylebone Cricket Club Young Cricketers (MCC YC’s), Middlesex, Somerset, Surrey and Sussex.
They will be hoping to build on a respectable 2011 Championship campaign which saw them finish fourth out of 10 with an even number of wins and losses. In the Trophy they fared only slightly less well, coming sixth with four wins, three losses and two No Results.
In the Twenty20 competition, they will once again compete in the regionally-defined Group D alongside Kent, MCC YC’s, Surrey and last season’s winners Sussex. Here, they performed particularly well in 2011, just missing out on a semi-final place by finishing second in their group on Net Run-Rate.
In this competition, two games (effectively the “home” and “away” ties) will be played against each team on the same day at the same venue meaning a total of eight games in all.
All home matches will be played on the Rose Bowl Nursery Ground and will be free of charge to attend. Keep checking this website’s Second XI Fixtures and Results page throughout the season for match reports on all competitive games.
