Jul 22 2007
Gibson takes perfect 10
ECB Match Report
Ottis Gibson became the first Durham bowler to claim all 10 wickets in an innings after skittling Hampshire for just 115 on day three of the LV County Championship match at Chester-le-Street.
The former West Indies seamer completed magnificent figures of 10 for 47 shortly after tea to hand the home side a 137-run lead and give them a scent of an unlikely Division One win.
The 38-year-old encountered resistance from only opener Michael Brown (56 not out), who carried his bat.
Five of his Gibson’s victims came before lunch with all but James Bruce falling before tea was taken in the middle of a rain delay.
At the start of the day, Durham were able to add only seven runs to their overnight total of 245 for seven, centurion Dale Benkenstein (114) the last man out.
Match Report from Day 1. Day 2 - no play due to heavy rain at Chester-le-Street.
