Funeral Details Announced for Former Hampshire Second XI Player
Simon Massey died of a suspected heart problem, aged 50
Funeral details have been announced for former Hampshire 2nd XI cricketer, Simon Massey who is believed to have died of a heart problem at the age of 50.
The service will be held at 3pm on Wednesday 1st February at Aldershot Crematorium and will be open to the public.
A hard-hitting batsman and spin bowler, he was on the Hampshire staff at Northlands Road for three seasons between 1980 and 1982, when he also played Southern League cricket for New Milton.
After being released by Hampshire, Massey played for Berkshire in the Minor Counties Championship, rejoining New Milton for another three seasons and winning the Hampshire League batting award in 1999.
Massey also played for Finchampstead and went on to become a qualified coach at the highest level. More recently he was a senior coach with Surrey CCC based at the Oval.
