The players' times! None could match up to the mysterious "Stig"

The players' times! None could match up to the mysterious "Stig"

Squad involved in event at Calshot Activities Centre

Since Sport Relief launched on 19th January everyone, from children to celebrities, are gearing up for the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile in Southampton – and now Hampshire Cricket has gone the extra mile!

On Tuesday Hampshire players Jimmy AdamsDavid Balcombe, Sean Ervine, David Griffiths, James Tomlinson and Chris Wood climbed a mile at the Calshot Activities Centre as they warm up for the Southampton Mile on Sunday 25th March.

The enthusiastic team reached dizzying heights of 45 feet along the way. They are encouraging the people of Hampshire to do their bit for Sport Relief and enter the Southampton Mile.

Captain Jimmy Adams said, “We are going the extra mile for Sport Relief and hope you can too by doing the Mile right here in Southampton. You don’t have to be sporty like us or do a challenge – some of us have never even climbed before! Anyone can join in and get sponsored to do the Mile. The money you raise really does make a difference.”

Phil Quill, Director of Hampshire County Councils Calshot Activities Centre, “We are delighted to set up this challenge and support Sport Relief. Climbing a mile’s distance is certainly a tall order for inexperienced climbers.”

All the money raised by the public for Sport Relief will help people living incredibly tough lives across the UK and in the world’s poorest countries.

This year, over one million people are expected to pull up their Sport Relief socks and take part in the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile to raise vital funds for vulnerable people across the UK and the world’s poorest countries. Enter the Southampton Mile right now at www.sportrelief.com.
