Jimmy Adams and Danny Briggs selected for 2011 Caribbean tour
Hampshire batsman, Jimmy Adams and spin bowler, Danny Briggs have been selected for the England Lions squad to tour the West Indies next year.
It means the duo, who both played for the England Performance Programme [EPP] on their tour of Australia earlier this month, will have a chance to state their case for the full England squad ahead of a summer of International cricket which will include an historic first-ever Test match on the South coast, as England take on Sri Lanka at The Rose Bowl.
Hampshire manager, Giles White said; “Everyone here at the club is delighted that Jimmy and Danny are being recognised for their hard work and good performances for Hampshire this year.
“I’m sure, given the right opportunities, they will make an impact and, were they to be a part of the side that takes to the field against Sri Lanka next June I know it would make everybody associated with the club very proud indeed.”
Briggs played two First Class matches and one One-Day match for the EPP, taking 11 wickets in total, including four at the expense of just nine runs against Western Australia A. Adams played just one match for the EPP but has subsequently played well for the Auckland Aces in New Zealand’s HRV Twenty20 Cup, top scoring for his side in their last two games.
Tickets are still available for the npower Test match between England and Sri Lanka at The Rose Bowl between 16th – 20th June. Click http://www.rosebowlplc.com/international/ for more information and to buy tickets.
