Seven of Hampshire's 15-strong touring party to Barbados have departed for the Caribbean early this morning [Thursday 7 March], along with three of the coaching staff. A further eight players and two coaches will leave on Sunday morning to take part in their annual pre-season programme.

This morning's flyers comprised of mainly pace bowlers with David Balcombe, David Griffiths, Hamza Riazuddin, Jack Sheppard, James Tomlinson and Chris Wood all on the plane. Joining them were batsman, Michael Carberry and coaches Giles White and Craig White as well as physio, Craig de Weymarn.

Captain Jimmy Adams, Michael Bates, Danny Briggs, Liam Dawson, Sean Ervine, Michael Roberts, James Vince and Adam Wheater will all follow this weekend along with Coach, Tony Middleton and Strength and Conditioning Coach, Mike Main.

They embark on a tour that will take in a two-day friendly against Warwickshire (Wed 13 / Thurs 14) at Windward CC, a Twenty20 competition on Sat 16 / Sun 17 which starts with a qualifying match against Yorkshire at the Kensington Oval (Plate / Cup Finals to be held on the Sunday) and another two-day friendly against Barbados (Wed 20 / Thurs 21) before flying back on Friday 22nd.

While they're there, the Royals will also take in the sights and sounds of the magnificent island and attend a Welcome Reception at the British High Commissioner's on Thursday 14th.

But how will you keep up with all the action? Ageasbowl.com is delighted to reveal that we have secured the services of a "man on the inside". And that man is none other than gun bowler and Division Two's leading wicket-taker for the 2012 season, David Balcombe.

Balcombe-Whites-Ball-Glamorgan-AgeasBowl-Marshall-4-410David will be cataloguing all the best “behind the scenes” action in a video diary hosted through Hampshire Cricket’s YouTube account and this website, inventively titled “Balcs in Barbs”. Check back to ageasbowl.com for daily updates showing the players practising, playing matches and enjoying their time off, including practise footage, interviews and general shots of what the players are getting up to. It promises to be a Series you won’t want to miss!

“Balcs in Barbs” will be launched in the next few days and promoted via the Club’s Twitter and Facebook accounts so make sure you keep up with all the action as it happens.

Of course, it’s all building up to the start of the season in a month’s time and the best way to see the boys in action this year is to purchase a Hampshire Cricket Membership, which offers the equivalent of a “season-ticket” to all domestic cricket at The Ageas Bowl*, priority booking and discounted tickets for England’s One Day International matches against New Zealand (2 June) and Australia (16 September) as well as their T20 International, also against the Aussies (29 August) at The Ageas Bowl**, complimentary guest passes and discounts around the ground.

2013 Hampshire Cricket Standard and Premium Membership is already available online, by calling 0870 243 0291 or visiting the ticket office, in person, during normal office hours. Tickets for International matches at The Ageas Bowl can be bought now via the same methods. Why not come to all three England fixtures and save £15 with the Down Under Package (click the link to find out more)?

* Premium Membership only. Standard Membership precludes Twenty20 matches.
** Priority booking period has now expired.
