Having shown what he can do with the ball in his hands, Hampshire’s 2012 overseas player Simon Katich has hit 110 for Australian side New South Wales to remind Hants fans what the Club really want him for!

Playing on day four of his side’s SuperSport Series match against Victoria, Kat followed up his three-wicket haul from the first innings with a well-made century, coming off 192 balls and including fourteen 4s.

A large part of his stay at the crease was alongside experienced mid-order batsman Ben Rohrer, with whom Kat added more than 200 runs in total.

That partnership held NSW’s innings together and earned a valuable draw for their team.

Katich announced his signing for Hampshire in mid-September, marking return to the county he represented between 2003 and 2005, winning the Hampshire Cricket Society Player of the Year award in 2003.

In his first spell with the club, Katich played 24 First Class matches, scoring nearly 2,000 runs at an average of more than 50. That included five centuries and a high-score of 143 not out. He also played 28 List A matches, scoring more than 1,000 runs at an average of more than 40. That included two centuries and a high score of 106.
