Lift It Like Lumby!
May 24 2010
Following England’s success in the Twenty20 World Cup earlier this month, Hampshire fans are being given the chance to get their hands on the trophy, not once, not twice, but three times!
The World Cup goes on tour around England and Wales this summer and will stop off at Hampshire’s The Rose Bowl on three occasions during its travels, where fans will be able to have their photo taken with it.
The stops have been designed to tie in with key dates in the fixture list at the Rose Bowl, including England’s One-Day Internationals against Australia and Pakistan and T20 Finals Day, the dates of which are as follows:
- 1st NatWest Series ODI, England v Australia: Tuesday June 22, 1pm - 9.45pm
- Friends Provident t20 Finals Day: Saturday August 14, 10am - 9.30pm
- 5th NatWest Series ODI, England v Pakistan: Wednesday September 22, 9am - 5.30pm
Photos will be taken by a professional photographer and will be available within 24 hours from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB)’s website: www.ecb.co.uk
England Twenty20 captain Paul Collingwood said: "The encouragement we received from fans out in the Caribbean and back at home was outstanding during the tournament and on behalf of the squad I would like to thank everyone for their support. The reception since we've returned home has been fantastic and I'm delighted that people will have an opportunity to have their picture taken with the ICC World Twenty20 trophy this summer."
Hampshire’s Kevin Pietersen and Michael Lumb were part of the team that won the World Cup in the West Indies, beating Australia in the final.
Tickets are still available to see the Aussies try to salvage some pride.
