Hampshire v Warwickshire
LV= County Championship
Monday 12 – Thursday 15 September
The Rose Bowl

The LV= County Championship season draws to a dramatic close over the next four days and all eyes will be focussed on The Rose Bowl, where Warwickshire are in pole position to claim the title, while Hampshire continue in their battle to avoid the drop.

Play will begin at the September start time of 10.30.

The home side’s survival efforts were hindered by having lost to Lancashire in a match that went right down to the wire at Liverpool.

Nevertheless, Jimmy Adams’ side are not relegated yet, with 24 points to play for and the club sitting 17 behind survival rivals Worcestershire with one game to go and 18 behind Yorkshire, who have no more matches remaining.

They stick with the same team of players that has seen them have an upturn in form over recent weeks, beating Durham, Somerset and Monday's opponents Warwickshire in the reverse fixture at Edgbaston – a match in which a James Vince century guided his side to a convincing victory.

The one change from the team which played there is Danny Briggs, who is likely to retain his place as the specialist spin option given that Imran Tahir has returned to South Africa.

The Opposition:

Warwickshire are on the cusp of a first Championship title since 2004, leading the table by three points with Lancashire – who play Somerset – and Durham – who play Worcestershire – their only competition going into the final round of matches.

And one man who has continued his good run of form since the Hampshire match at Edgbaston is Chris Woakes. The paceman took seven-wickets in an innings during the last meeting of these two teams and followed that up with a four-fer in his side’s demolition of Nottinghamshire last time out.

Captain Jim Troughton has also picked the right time to hit form with the bat, making a hundred against Notts, having passing 50 just three times in two years.

Hampshire Squad:

(4) Jimmy Adams* (17) Dimitri Mascarenhas
(7) Sean Ervine (19) Danny Briggs
(8) Liam Dawson (21) James Tomlinson
(14) James Vince (25) Chris Wood
(15) Michael Carberry (27) Neil McKenzie
(16) Michael Bates+
