Andover v Hampshire Academy Match Report

Andover v Hampshire Academy
ECB Southern Electric Premier LEague
Saturday 25 June
London Road

Summary: Hampshire Academy beat Andover by 76 runs
Hampshire Academy: 153-8
Andover: 87 ao

An excellent all-round performance from Hampshire’s in-form Academy team saw them to a 76-run win over Andover despite a good performance from opposition bowler, Richard Taylor (7-39) at London Road.

Taylor took nearly all of the eight Academy wickets to fall and later top scored with 21.

But the Young Royals thrived on the solid beginnings by Rob Gibson (33) and Jake George (26), with several subsequent batsmen chipping in as they posted 153-8 in the rain trimmed 27-over match.

Confidence isn’t something that exudes from Andover’s batsmen just now (the team having suffered eight straight defeats since lifting the Division 2 crown last season) and directly Owen Alsop (2-22) removed openers Jonty Hadfield and Will Prozesky a pavilion procession began.

Matt King (3-10) nipped out James O’Gorman, Cille van der Merwe and Tim Saye in quick succession to leave Andover 40-5.

Mark Copleston (17) and Taylor (21) rallied, but spin duo Tim Ravenscroft (3-11) and Jamie Miller (2-23) cut through the lower order to leave Andover 87 all out.
