Hampshire chased down a required 252 runs with less than an over to spare against Somerset at Taunton Vale, recording their third Second XI Trophy victory of the season in the process.
It was a match that held much intrigue for Hampshire fans as club captain, Dimitri Mascarenhas played his first game on his return from injury. In truth, the skipper was being eased back in, bowling only 6 of his 10 allowed overs ending with figures of 6-1-23-0.
The eight wickets taken were shared evenly between Jack Sheppard (2-32), Liam Dawson (2-41), Danny Briggs (2-49) and Chris Wood (2-63).
The star of the show with the bat was Hamza Riazuddin (55) who, batting at four helped set Hampshire on the way. Mascarenhas scored 20.
