List A cricket (usually 40 or 50 overs per side) is  a mid-way point between the first class (County Championship) and Twenty20 forms of the game. As such, the Clydesdale Bank 40 competition has the best of both, with the tactics of the longer form alongside some of the fireworks of the T20.
