ECB T20 Knock-Out
Only brought in ahead of the 2011 season, this is the new kid on the block in terms of Second XI competitions.
Arranged into four groups of five teams, in this competition two games (effectively the “home” and “away” ties) are played against each team on the same day at the same venue meaning a total of eight games in all.
Two points are awarded for a win, one for a tie and one for No Result. The four teams finishing top of their respective groups qualify for a Friends Life t20-style “Finals Day” with both semis and a final played on one day at one venue.
All Second XI fixtures at The Ageas Bowl are played on the club’s Nursery Ground and are free to attend.
Hampshire’s Record:
In the inaugural Second XI Twenty20 competition, Hampshire performed particularly well, unfortunately just missing out on a semi-final place by finishing second in their group (to eventual competition winners, Sussex) on Net Run-Rate.
2012 Opposition:
Hampshire compete in Group D alongside Kent, Marylebone Cricket Club Young Cricketers, Surrey and Sussex.
