Schools
The Bluebird Care and Chance to Shine Special Schools Cricket Programme is one of the largest in the country, providing coaching and competition for over 30 schools and approximately 1,000 young people with learning and physical disabilities.
Hampshire Cricket Board’s experienced team of community coaches deliver over 200 hours of curriculum time coaching across the County. The aim of the program is to feed players in to their local cricket clubs’ junior teams through the Bluebird Care Inclusive Cricket Clubs Programme.
The coaching hours are funded by Chance to Shine. As part of the programme each school is offered six weeks of sessions, to cover the basic cricket skills, before taking part in the Bluebird Care Kwik Cricket Festivals.
Through our schools’ programme we are committed to giving young people with learning disabilities an opportunity to excel in sport and enjoy learning, in an interesting and engaging way.
