The Ageas Bowl Academy
Hampshire Cricket is about more than just our first team. The Hampshire Second XI and Academy sides provide a vital platform in which squad players can maintain match practise, players returning from injury can work their way back to full fitness and young players can build up their experience and show the selectors what they can do.
The Second XI plays in three domestic competitions throughout the season - the Second XI Championship, Second XI Trophy and Second XI t20 (view Second XI Fixtures and Results) - while the Academy take part in the Southern Electric Premier League (view Academy Fixtures and Results).
Home matches are usually played on the Ageas Bowl Nursery Ground - next to the main ground and are free to watch.
The Hampshire Cricket Academy - run by Bobby Parks - is a vital part of the club, spotting young talent, nurturing cricketing and life skills and, finally, producing some of the most exciting young cricketers in the country.
Former Academy players now making their name at the top level include Michael Bates, Danny Briggs, Liam Dawson, Hamza Riazuddin, Chris Wood and James Vince.
The following players make up the Hampshire Academy for the 2012 season. Keep an eye out, they're coming to a first team near you very soon!
