Christopher Philip Wood
“Woody” is a left-arm fast-medium bowler and right-handed batsman.
He began 2010 on a development contract but injuries to senior players gave him an opportunity and he played regularly for the first team, especially in the Friends Provident t20 trophy-winning team and in the Clydesdale Bank 40 competition.
He was especially effective in the latter form, taking most wickets for Hampshire at the best average, with only Danny Briggs being more economical.
His 20 wickets in T20 also represented the second best haul ever in a season for Hampshire.
In 2011, he continued his good form for the club, once again ending the CB40 campaign as the leading wicket-taker and forging a more permanent place in the club's LV= County Championship side.
He played for England under-19 in 2008/9.
