Osteopath Service

Osteopaths work to restore your body to a state of balance, where possible without the use of drugs or surgery. Osteopaths use physical manipulation, stretching and massage to increase the mobility of joints, relieve muscle tension and aid in your body’s own healing mechanisms.

They also provide advice on posture, give exercises to aid recovery and most importantly aim to prevent symptoms reoccurring. Osteopaths are able to deal with a wide variety of conditions, including back pain, headaches, neck pain, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, minor sports injuries, the pain of arthritis and many more conditions.

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwaves have been used within medicine for the management of conditions such as kidney stones, but modern clinical research has adapted this technology and demonstrated great results when used for tissue healing in bones, ligaments, tendons and other soft-tissue structures. Shockwave Therapy is now recommended in the NICE guidelines for the management of some musculoskeletal conditions.

New to Hampshire Wellbeing Centre Shockwave Therapy is available and recommended to help with:

Plantar fasciitis/fasciopathy

Achilles tendinopathy

Patella tendinopathy

Proximal hamstring tendinopathy

Greater trochanteric pain syndrome

Calcific tendonitis of the shoulder

Tennis Elbow

Carpal tunnel syndrome

Myofascial Trigger Points

How Does Shockwave Therapy Work?

Shockwaves are acoustic pressure waves generated by compressed air firing a projectile back and forth through a cylinder inside the handpiece of the machine, which travels into the treated area.

Shockwaves can stimulate the tendon tissue regeneration and remodeling, to aid the healing process of chronic conditions and regulate inflammation. This can therefore provide and analgesic effect and aid pain management, which can allow for rehabilitation to be performed and progressed more comfortably.

Does Shockwave Therapy Hurt?

Each patient may report a different sensation/sensitivity to Shockwave Therapy, however the feeling of some discomfort during treatment can be beneficial in generating an increased pain- relieving response after. Whilst Shockwave Therapy may cause some discomfort, our practitioners will be checking in with you regularly during treatment to ensure that the discomfort levels stay within your pain tolerance whilst still achieving optimal results.

How many sessions would be required?

Research has demonstrated that a cumulative effect of 3-6 sessions (usually weekly or bi-weekly sessions) is often recommended in order to see significant improvement in symptoms; although your therapist will discuss this with you as a case-by-case basis. Sessions usually last 20-30 minutes.

How much does it cost?

£50 per session

If shockwave is added on to a Physiotherapy or Sports Therapy session, it will only be an extra £25 on top of your existing treatment session fee.

Is Shockwave Therapy covered by insurance?

Shockwave Therapy is recognized by many private medical insurance companies. If you believe Shockwave Therapy might be indicated for your condition, please enquire with your provider or our administrative team for further assistance.

If you wish to enquire or need further information on this service, please enquire with the team directly.

Adult Ear Irrigation

Ear wax provides essential protection for your ears, but an excess build-up of wax may cause blockage of the ear canal leading to discomfort and difficulty in hearing.  This issue is more common in those with skin conditions, such as eczema or psoriasis, and those who use hearing aids or headphones.

Ear irrigation (previously called ear syringing) is unfortunately no longer available on the NHS, but MVB Health do provide this safe and effective method for cleaning out the ear canal.  Delivered by our expert NMC registered nursing staff, with over 20 years’ experience in both the NHS and Private Healthcare, you are in safe hands.

Clinics runs weekly at the Hampshire Wellbeing Centre, but please be aware that you will require a 7 day gap between booking your session and your appointment, in order to complete the required regime of ear wax softening.

Cryopen (r) is both CE and FDA registered and all treatments are provided by a senior state registered nurse.
