We are providing support for Grounds Management Teams during the 2023 season
After successfully piloting the Grounds Management Association’s series of short courses in 2022, we are delighted to provide the offer once again on a wider scale.
Priced at an amazing £20 per person for the entire programme, this presents excellent value for money for groundies at your club or organisation as well as any new volunteers who are showing an interest or aptitude to support this aspect of facility development.
Programme details:
1) Curtain raiser event:
When? - 9th May (10am - 2pm)
Where? - Utilita Bowl
What's included?
Meet the Utilita Bowl's grounds management team over a cup of tea/coffee and a breakfast roll
Informative discussion on "hybrid" pitches, with volunteers from local clubs with hybrid pitches, and Alan Thompson from SISGrass to share experiences and expertise on the system
Learn about pitch match preparation with the Utilita Bowl grounds team and county pitch advisors in the middle
A chance to watch Hampshire 2nd XI vs Middlesex 2nd XI
2) Match pitch repairs including foot hole repair:
When? - 27th June (12 noon - 2pm)
Where? - Hartley Wintney CC
What's included?
Cleaning the pitch up
Materials/equipment required
Preparing a seedbed for the pitch
Applying loam, seed, fertiliser, levelling
Post repair care
Repairing a foot hole to re-use a pitch and during longer games
3) Post season renovation - Winter maintenance:
When? -5th September
Where? - Totton & Eling CC
What's included?
Preparing square for renovation
Materials/machinery required
Thatch removal, scarification
Preparing a seed bed
Applying loam, seed, fertiliser
Winter maintenance (mowing - topping, drag brushing and surveillance for weeds, pests and diseases)
4) Health and Safety/machinery module:
When? - 26th September (12 noon - 2pm)
Where? - Wide Lane (Southampton University Sports Ground)
