Umpiring Courses

Introducing our 2022-23 ECB ACO Umpiring Courses.

The Hampshire Association of Cricket Officials (HACO) aims to recruit and retain umpires by providing a structured programme using both online and in-person training.

Whether you want to learn the Laws of the game, want to umpire 5-10 overs at the weekend or aspire to stand at the highest level of league cricket, there are courses for you!

Basics of Umpiring (Online)

• Designed to help you during your first 10-over stint of umpiring or those wishing to learn the Laws of the game

• Free

• Aged 13+

Umpire Stage One

• Gives you an overview of the basic Laws of the game and how to apply them and introduce the principles of field craft and match management. The course will give you the tools to enable you to umpire matches at the basic recreational level where there are no independent umpires appointed

• £30

• 1 day course

• Includes a resource pack, first year ECB ACO membership and £20 discount to apply for Stage 2 on registration

• Aged 13+

Umpire Stage Two

• Gives you further knowledge and skills to enable you to become a member of a league pannel and is available if you hvae attended Stage One. It will look beyond the basic Laws, build on field craft and introduce the concept of working as a team, with a colleague

• 1 day course

• Aged 13+

Umpire Stage Three

• Is open to anyone who has taken a minimum of the Stage One and Stage Two, or the old Level 1 and 1A courses.

• £40

• 2 day course

• Aged 13+

Join Hampshire Association of Cricket Officials (HACO)

The association's aim is to recruit and actively encourage people of all ages to take up cricket officiating and to provide support through the training and development of officials in Hampshire, including for young umpires and scorers.
