Holland's Six-Wicket Haul Halted by Second XI Abandonment

Ian Holland claimed six scalps in Hampshire's abandoned three-day fixture against Kent at Polo Farm

A brilliant six-wicket haul from Ian Holland (6-26) was unable to see Hampshire Second XI to victory over Kent as the three-day fixture at Polo Farm was abandoned on the second day due to an unfit pitch.

Valuable contributions with the bat from Joe Weatherley (46), Lewis McManus (46) and A Hamza (41) saw Hampshire post a competitive 277 in their first-innings.

Holland and Ryan Stevenson (4-20) then ripped through the Kent batting line-up with devastating spells of bowling to dismiss the hosts for just 109 in their first-innings reply, and with the deficit still more than 150, Hampshire elected to enforce the follow on.

Despite the undoubted upper-hand that the visitors possessed, the Kent second-innings was then halted with the score at 32-0, still 136 runs behind, with the umpires deeming the playing surface too dangerous to continue the day’s play and thus abandoning the fixture.
