The new Hampshire Academy intake has been confirmed with eight new additions for 2019

Hampshire Cricket are pleased to announce the Club’s new Academy intake for the 2019 season.

Eight new faces join the set-up with Joshua Lawrenson, George Langston, Monam Abass, Harry Petrie and Tom Prest the youngest of those to join the programme, alongside U17 recruit James Trodd and U18s Ben Huntley and Ollie Southon.

Fellow U18s George Pardoe and Scott Currie return once again this season, as well as U17 quartet Fletcha Middleton, Tom South, George Metzger and Sonny Reynolds.

We’re delighted to add eight exciting young cricketers to the Hampshire Academy as part of this year’s intake, alongside George Pardoe, George Metzger, Fletcha, Scott, Tom and Sonny who all return having shown promise throughout this past year.

The squad’s winter training programme is already underway and with continued development throughout the off-season and into next summer, we hope 2019 will be another successful year.

The Hampshire Academy finished third in last year's Southern Electric Premier League, claiming 10 victories across both timed and limited overs games from their 16 contests and consistently impressing against the best senior club players in the county.

Batsman Felix Organ’s mammoth 843 runs at an average of 56.20 saw him top the list of run-getters in last year’s campaign, whilst the youngster also claimed 24 wickets at an average of just 17.38.

He formed a strong partnership with all-rounder Tom Scriven, who also contributed with both bat and ball with 27 wickets at an average of 18.70 to go with 646 runs at an average of 49.69. Both players were offered professional contracts following the 2018 season.

The player pathway system, including the Hampshire Academy, has a strong history of producing talented youngsters that go on to succeed in the professional game, highlighted no more so than eight products of the youth system representing Hampshire throughout their victorious Royal London One-Day Cup campaign this summer.
