The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced the 2022 women’s regional domestic fixtures for the upcoming season.
The Southern Vipers welcome the Thunder in the opening round of the Charlotte Edwards Cup on Saturday 14th May at the County Ground, Hove. The trophy’s namesake will be hoping her team can go one better than the semi-final they managed last year.
Just four days later on Wednesday 18th May, the Vipers come to the The Ageas Bowl to take on the Lightning in another T20 match before travelling up to the north east to take on the Northern Diamonds on Saturday 21st May.
Two consecutive away games follow against the Lightning (Sat 29th May) and the Thunder (Weds 1st June) at Trent Bridge and Emirates Old Trafford respectively, both of which will be double headers with men’s Vitality Blast fixtures taking place afterwards.
The final home T20 tie comes against the Northern Diamonds whom the Vipers beat in the 50-over Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy final. This match will be part of a blockbuster double header at the The Ageas Bowl on Saturday 4th June, with the Vipers v Diamonds kicking things off, followed by ‘El Clasicoast’ between Hampshire and Sussex in the Vitality Blast.
The final of the Charlotte Edwards Cup moves from the The Ageas Bowl to the County Ground, Northampton on Saturday 11th June.
The Vipers’ first Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy match takes place on Saturday 2nd July against the Central Sparks, followed up by a home fixture at Hove against the South East Stars one week later.
Georgia Adams’ side then travel to Derby to take on the Lightning (Sat 16th July) before a final home game prior to The Hundred on Saturday 23rd July at the The Ageas Bowl against the Sunrisers.
Once the regional fixtures resume, the Vipers have back-to-back home RHFT games at the Hove and the The Ageas Bowl against Western Storm (Fri 9th Sept) and the Thunder (Sat 11th Sept) respectively, before a final group match against the Northern Diamonds at Headingley on Saturday 17th September.
The eliminator semi-final will be played on Wednesday 21st September with the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy final on Sunday 25th September to follow at Lord’s.
