2023 Trophy Tour Highlights

Hampshire Hawks and Southern Vipers recently took the Vitality Blast and Charlotte Edwards Cup trophies on tour around the region

The Ageas Bowl-based Hampshire Hawks and Southern Vipers are the reigning title-holders of the Men’s and Women’s domestic T20 trophies, after winning the Vitality Blast and Charlotte Edwards Cup respectively in 2022.

With both trophies on board, both the Hawks and Vipers decided to take their silverware on tour around Hampshire and surrounding counties to celebrate their title as champions and the areas that produce the talent for the Clubs’ cricketing pathways.


Basingstoke Hawks Academy Launch – Monday 26th April

First, both trophies were accompanied by Hampshire Hawks stars Chris Wood and Ross Whiteley, and Vipers all-rounder Alice Monaghan at Brighton Hill School on Monday 26th April, as the players helped launch a new community cricket programme in Basingstoke aimed at giving young people new opportunities through cricket, the Basingstoke Hawks Academy.

‘Guess Where’ Social Media Campaign – Friday 28th April

Next, both trophies went on tour around the South on Friday 28th April, as fans had the opportunity to win tickets if they can guess where they were stopping on route via social media.

The location of the trophies was hinted across Hampshire Cricket and Southern Vipers’ Twitter and Instagram channels, where fans who guessed the correctly were automatically entered into a draw to win free tickets to the opening T20 matchday Champions Day on Friday 26th May.

The three locations were revealed before the trophies were on display at Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth, where fans and the public had the chance to get their photo with both trophies. as well as Hampshire Hawks mascot, Hawky, who made an appearance!


HCB Champion Club Roadshow – Wednesday 3rd May

On Wednesday 3rd May, Hampshire Cricket Board – governing body of recreational cricket in the county – took both trophies to a number of champion recreational cricket clubs who had also won their respective leagues in 2022.

Champion clubs who received the trophies and had the chance to get their photos with both trophies – as well as their own – were: Burridge Cricket Club (Under-13 County Hindley Cup), St Cross Symondians Cricket Club (Southern Premier League), Collingbourne Cricket Club (Hampshire Cricket League Division 6 North), Odiham & Greywell Cricket Club (Hampshire Cricket League Women’s Division 3 North), Rowledge Cricket Club (Hampshire Cricket League Division 5 North East), Alton Cricket Club (Southern Premier League Division One), Tichborne Park Cricket Club (Hampshire Cricket League Division 6 North East), Easton & Martyr Worthy Cricket Club (Women’s W10 Softball League), and South Winchester Cricket Club (Hampshire Cricket League Division 3 North).


Cricket Club Showcase – Friday 5th May

The Vitality Blast and Charlotte Edwards Cup trophies were then showcased Sarisbury Cricket Club, local to The Ageas Bowl and recreational cricket club with a thriving junior cricket programme, on Friday 5th May with Hampshire Hawks fast bowler Brad Wheal also in attendance. Young Sarisbury cricket participants enjoyed a question-and-answer session with Wheal, whilst club members had the chance to get their photo with both trophies.

Both trophies were transported to Portsmouth Cricket Club, a club which is inspiring a huge number of junior cricketers through their All Stars & Dynamos programmes, as well as their junior cricket teams. Hampshire and Southern Vipers all-rounders Keith Barker and Emily Windsor attended and helped conduct skills challenges with junior cricket participants on the evening at the seaside ground, before having photos with club members and trophies.


Both Vitality Blast and Charlotte Edwards Cup trophies will again be displayed at Hampshire Hawks’ first home matchday at The Ageas Bowl, the ‘Champions Day’ Double Header with Southern Vipers on Friday 26th May. Both title-defending sides will walk past their trophies as they enter the pitch on the day, before also being on display for the Half-Term Double Header on Wednesday 31st May.

See the T20 champions in action from Friday 26th May, with tickets currently available for all of Hampshire Hawks’ seven action-packed Vitality Blast matchdays at the cheaper, Advance rate if purchased before the matchday.

Free buses will once again be running to and from The Ageas Bowl for all seven group stage T20s, running to and from Southampton Airport Parkway and Hedge End train stations before during and after each match.
