A Closer Look: Vitality Blast

Take a look at the Vitality Blast schedule for 2020 as Hampshire look to reach a record eighth Finals Day

Following on from the 2020 fixture announcement, we're delving deeper into what each competition holds next season, this time focusing on the Vitality Blast.

In a re-shuffle to the domestic calendar, Hampshire will begin their 2020 Blast campaign hoping to improve on the previous two seasons and start their quest for an eighth finals days’ in ten years.

Commencing on Friday May 29th and in a repeat of last year, Hampshire host local rivals Sussex Sharks at the The Ageas Bowl in a much-anticipated ‘el clasicoast’ clash to begin the campaign.

Two days later, a trip to Canterbury awaits where Hampshire will be looking to avenge two narrow group stage losses against Kent Spitfires in 2019.

A journey to Lord’s and Middlesex on Thursday 4th June is next up before Hampshire return to the The Ageas Bowl where they will take on Gloucestershire at home for the first time in two years.

In what was a dramatic tie at the The Ageas Bowl last season, eventual winners Essex Eagles will visit the home of Hampshire on Wednesday 10th June, before the second instalment of ‘el clasicoast’ is served as Hampshire travel to Hove just two days after (Friday 12th June).

A Specsavers County Championship game against Warwickshire ends a run of six straight T20’s, before Hampshire stay at the The Ageas Bowl for the return to Blast action against Somerset on Thursday 18th June.

A weekend double header then looms as a visit to Bristol and Gloucestershire, followed by Glamorgan at the The Ageas Bowl on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st June respectively.

Just five days after their first encounter, Hampshire face Somerset in the reverse fixture at Taunton before Friday nights under the lights return as Surrey arrive at the The Ageas Bowl on Friday 26th June.

After another Championship break, Hampshire visit the Oval this time where they take on Surrey in what will be back to back Blast fixtures against the team from South London.

Middlesex finish of Hampshire’s round of home T20 fixture on Friday 10th July. And with quarter-final qualification hopefully secured, James Vince's side sign off at Chelmsford against Essex Eagles on Sunday 12th July.

The quarter-final stage of the tournament will take place across four days between 18th-21st August where the winners will head to Edgbaston and compete in Finals Day on Saturday 5th September.
