Current Boys’ Player Pathway Head of Operations, Adam Carty, has been appointed as the first Regional Director of Women’s Cricket for the South Central region
Hampshire Cricket, on behalf of the South Central Region, can announce that current Boys’ Player Pathway Head of Operations, Adam Carty, has been appointed as the first Regional Director of Women’s Cricket for the South Central region.
Carty, who will be in position from early March, will form and lead a support team who will provide a high-performance training and competition environment to a senior and academy squad in the new ECB Women’s Elite Domestic Structure. The support team will include a Head Coach, Senior Regional Talent Manager, Physiotherapist and Strength & Conditioning Coach amongst others.
The ECB South Central region comprises of seven counties - namely Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Dorset, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Oxfordshire and Sussex - and is one of eight regional hubs developed by the ECB as part of a new structure to develop more elite women cricketers.
The introduction of the new Women’s Elite Domestic Structure is part of the ten-point Action Plan for Transforming Women’s and Girls’ Cricket launched by the ECB in October 2019. Hampshire Cricket, in partnership with Sussex Cricket, will undertake the regional hosting responsibilities and will look to drive performance, pathway and participation.
Adam has done an outstanding job in developing the Boys’ Pathway alongside multiple coaching assignments with women and girls’ cricket across Hampshire over the past five years. This new role is an ideal opportunity to pair both his sound business background and strong communicative abilities, whilst his passion for the game and development of people and players puts him in good place to hit the ground running.

To be able to identify & nurture the development of a senior women’s squad, who will compete in a two-format national competition as part of a new elite domestic structure, as well as a Regional Academy, is hugely exciting. Directing the cricketing affairs of a full-time professional women’s team presents a fantastic opportunity and this is a significant step change towards producing high performing elite female cricketers.
The new regional structure creates a clear pathway from County age group cricket to the professional game. I’m very excited to be given this opportunity to support our talented women’s and girls’ cricketers on their journey towards the professional game. Having worked within the County game over the last three years and supported the development of Hampshire Women, it’s clear that performance and interest in women’s cricket is on an upward curve.
I’m looking forward to playing an integral part in supporting this growth cycle through exciting initiatives at every level of the game. To promote excellence within our professional ranks and provide multi-layered opportunities alongside helping to inspire the future generation will sit close with everything we do as a Region.
