All Stars Activator recognised at Winchester Sports Awards

Isaac Porter, an All Stars Cricket activator at Bishops Waltham CC, won the Volunteer of the Year Award at the Winchester Sports Awards.

Isaac ran the 8 week programme last year, which aims to provide a great first experience of cricket for 5 to 8 year olds. All Stars Cricket is a national programme and Bishops Waltham CC were one of 51 centres in Hampshire, which got involved for the first time in 2017.

The Activator is crucial to ensuring the sessions are packed full of fun. Isaac got involved after helping out with the clubs colts sessions.

Isaac said, 'The club asked me to get involved as I had often help out at our colts training and I completed a Coach Support Worker course when I was 16’.

'The best bit about the All Stars sessions was seeing the children enjoy themselves and make progress from week to week. Knowing I had created an environment in which they can learn new skills game me a real buzz'.

'I have been playing cricket since I was 7 years old and always looked up to the people who have coached and inspired me to play the game. Hopefully through All Stars I may have inspired our children to love the game and go on to be one of our future members or even play for Hampshire!'

'All Stars is the ideal opportunity for children to have fun and develop their skills, I would advise anyone interested in being an Activator to get involved and give it a go!'

There are currently 61 All Stars Centres registered for 2018, if your club is yet to register or you want to become an Activator, email rob.pfeiffer@ageasbowl.com
