Beware The Brand New Viper As Kerr Breaks Records

New Vipers signing Amelia Kerr struck an astonishing 232* before claiming 5-17 with the ball for New Zealand in their ODI against Ireland

New Viper signing Amelia Kerr set a ODI batting world record on Monday as she struck an unbeaten 232 against Ireland, before then claiming a superb 5-17 five-wicket haul in the third 50-over match of the series.

The 17-year-old, who joins the Vipers for the 2018 Kia Super League competition, beat the previous record of 229* for the highest individual ODI score held since before the all-rounder was born, as New Zealand posted 440-3 batting first.

The 145-ball knock included 31 fours and two sixes, with the second maximum from the final delivery of the innings taking her to the record.

Kerr then helped skittle the hosts for just 135, claiming outstanding figures of 5-17, her first five-wicket haul.

You can catch Amelia and the Southern Vipers in action later this summer with tickets for the Ageas Bowl’s Southern Vipers matches available online via the link below, over the phone on 0844 847 1863, or by visiting the Ageas Bowl’s Ticketing & Membership Office via normal working hours.

After the success of the first two KSL seasons, all six teams, including the Ageas Bowl-based Southern Vipers, will play each other home and away for the first time in 2018. Each team will play 10 matches rather than five in the battle to reach Finals Day, and the competition includes a total of 32 matches compared to last year’s 17, spanning 37 days from July 22 to August 27.
