Match Preview: Surrey v Hampshire, Vitality CC
A 13-player Hampshire squad will travel to The Kia Oval to take on Surrey in the Vitality County Championship
With the 2022 season now firmly in the rear-view mirror, we're taking a look back at some of the performances that caught the eye throughout Southern Vipers' successful Charlotte Edwards Cup campaign.
From Nottingham to Manchester, the Vipers remained undefeated, and having beaten their opposition in the opening game of the season by eight wickets, confidence amongst the group was sky high.
Dean, coming back into the side in place of her England counterpart Lauren Bell, relished the opportunity of playing on the turning pitch at Old Trafford.
Having chosen to bat first, the Thunder got off to a slow start, with Freya Kemp picking up the first wicket before Dean joined the party.
She had Kate Cross slogging across the line where Danni Wyatt was waiting at deep midwicket to take the catch.
Dean then had the left-handed Danielle Collins lbw from round the wicket for just seven, and Thunder were 57-4 in the 13th over.
The off spinner then claimed her third, as Thunder captain Ellie Threlkeld thought she’d driven the ball past Dean, but she dove full stretch to her left to claim the catch just centimetres above the ground.
Tidy bowling from the Vipers meant that none of the five bowlers used went at more than five runs per over, and the score was chased down in the 16th over as the Vipers earned a bonus point victory to continue their unbeaten run.
