20 Years Of T20: Dimi's Hat-Trick Heroics

Dimitri Mascarenhas makes history with first T20 hat-trick back in 2004

With this year's Vitality Blast campaign just around the corner - and to mark the 20th edition of the competition being staged this summer - we've taken a trip down memory lane, looking back at some of the most memorable performances from the past 19 seasons. First up, is Dimi's history-making moment against local-rivals Sussex back in 2004.

The T20 rivalry between Sussex and Hampshire is forever etched in history with the format's first match being played at The Rose Bowl, now known as The Ageas Bowl, all the way back in 2003.

Just a year later, during the 2004 fixture at Hove, even more history was made.

Former Hampshire captain, Dimitri Mascarenhas became the first player to take a hat-trick in the T20 format after dismissing Mark Davis, Mushtaq Ahmed and Jason Lewry with consecutive deliveries.

Mascarenhas finished with incredible figures of five wickets, two maidens and just fourteen runs conceded from his 3.5 overs.

Hampshire went on to secure a three wicket victory over their local-rivals with an over to spare.

Tickets and Passports for the all of Hampshire’s 2022 Vitality Blast fixtures are now on general sale and are currently available at the discounted Early Bird rate - but only until Monday 9th May.
