Festival Fun

W10 provides women with a fun and sociable opportunity to get involved in cricket

The 2017 Serious Cricket W10 Cup and Plate Finalists have been decided, following festivals at IBM Hursley and Lymington Cricket Clubs on the 25th June.

The W10 initiative is in its 3rd year and gives women who do not want to play hardball cricket the opportunity to participate in a fun and sociable environment.  The 10 overs pairs games are played with a softball and are a great introduction to the game.  Prior to the finals all teams received 10 weeks of coaching which provided everyone with the basics in order to enjoy the game.

IBM Hursley, St Cross, Twyford, Sparsholt, Easton & Martyr Worthy, Lymington, Gosport Borough, Hythe & Dibden and Emsworth all battled it out for a place in the finals.

At the IBM Hursley festival, St Cross, Sparsholt and IBM Hursley made it through to the Cup Final with Twyford and Easton & Martyr Worthy going through to the plate final.

At Lymington, Lymington and Gosport Borough progressed through to the cup, with Hythe & Dibden and Emsworth going through to the plate.

W10 has really taken off in Hampshire, in 2015 we started with 8 teams and since then over 15 women’s teams have been established. It is great to see so many women enjoying cricket, all the games have been played in the right spirit which has really added to the experience.

Following the success of our W10 women's cricket programme, Hampshire and England and Wales Cricket Boards are working in partnership to set up more soft ball festivals across Hampshire.
