Hampshire Captain James Vince Commits Future To Club Until 2025
Vince signs multi-year extension ahead of 2022 season
Hampshire Cricket are delighted to announce that captain James Vince has signed a new contract extension, extending his stay at The Ageas Bowl until at least the end of 2025.
The 31-year-old, who has been with Hampshire since his Academy days, has committed his future to the Club by signing a three-year extension to his existing contract which was due to run until the end of 2022.
Having progressed through the youth setup, Vince made his first-team debut in May 2009 before becoming a regular fixture in the side a year later.
He has now racked up 17,666 runs in 405 appearances across all formats and assumed the role of Club captain in 2015.
Vince was crucial at the top of the order in Hampshire’s T20 successes of 2010 and 2012, and was an integral part of the County Championship Division Two title-winning side in 2014 before leading Hampshire to a Royal London One-Day Cup triumph in 2018.
During his time with the Club the right-hander has also featured on the international stage, making 50 appearances for England across all formats. He was a part of the 15-man squad who won the ICC 2019 Cricket World Cup.
In 2021, Vince once again led from the front as he averaged 40.80 in the LV= Insurance County Championship – including a 231 against Leicestershire – as Hampshire narrowly missed out on the title. In the Vitality Blast he guided his team to another Finals Day – in remarkable circumstances as the Hawks won each of their final five group matches before staging a remarkable comeback against Notts Outlaws at Trent Bridge in a dramatic quarter-final.
James is not only a fantastic player in every format but also an excellent captain, so we are of course, delighted that he has committed for the long term.
He’s an integral part of the Club and it’s great to have him leading the team in what promises to be an exciting period for the Club.

I’ve enjoyed some fantastic experiences with the Club and we head into the 2022 season with an exciting group of players and added motivation after coming so close in 2021’s LV= Insurance County Championship.
We’re looking forward to the start of the new season, one which will hopefully mark the beginning of a successful period for the Club.

Hampshire Hawks have also announced a brand-new type of ticket for this summer’s T20 matches at The Ageas Bowl, the Vitality Blast Plus ticket, which offers an upgrade on general admission tickets with premium reserved seating and access to a private, pitch-facing lounge and bar.
A limited-number of these new Plus tickets are available for each of Hampshire Hawks’ seven Vitality Blast matches at The Ageas Bowl this summer and they are on sale now.
What’s more, a new, free rail shuttle bus provision is on offer for fans travelling to and from The Ageas Bowl for Vitality Blast fixtures this summer – with Hawks supporters able to make use of free buses from Southampton Airport Parkway and Hedge End railway stations before, during and after each of this summer’s T20 matches.
