Hampshire In The Hundred

James Vince, Liam Dawson, Mason Crane, Kyle Abbott, Rilee Rossouw and Chris Wood will all feature in the men's Hundred next summer whilst Hampshire Women's Katie George was selected for the women's competition

Following a thrilling campaign for Hampshire in 2019, attention is already beginning to turn to what lies ahead in 2020.

Ahead of the release of next season's domestic schedule, preparations have already been made for the new fast-paced domestic tournament, The Hundred, arriving next summer.

Liam Dawson, Mason Crane, Kyle Abbott, Rilee Rossouw and Chris Wood were all picked up in the inaugural men's player draft, the first of its kind in UK sport, which took place last month. Hampshire skipper James Vince has also been selected for the competition and wasn't required to enter the draft after receiving a 'Local Icon' contract.

Dawson and Vince will both play for their hometown side, Southern Brave, with the all-rounder selected in the second round by the The Ageas Bowl-based side for £100,000.

Crane and Abbott will also pair up, this time for London Spirit, after their fifth round selection for £50,000.

Rilee Rossouw (£75,000) and Chris Wood (£40,000) will line-up for Oval Invincibles who claimed the duo in the third and sixth round respectively.

Former Hampshire overseas players Mujeeb Ur Rahman (Northern Superchargers), Glenn Maxwell (London Spirit) and Imran Tahir (Manchester Originals) will all also feature in the tournament beginning 2020 after being selected in the draft. Former Hampshire captains Shane Warne and Mark Nicholas will also have involvement in the tournament with Warne joining the London Spirit as Head Coach and Nicholas appointed as Chairman for the Southern Brave.

All eight sides in the competition selected 12 players from a pool of more than 550 eligible entrants, including three overseas players per team.

The full list of player picks, for each team, in order of selection can be found below.

Hampshire Women will also be represented in next year's competition, with all-rounder Katie George one of the Welsh Fire's selections. She joins Director of Women's Cricket and Southern Brave Head Coach Charlotte Edwards as the club's female representatives signed up so far.
